Building that tilted sideways during fire being demolished

A building that was left leaning following Friday night's massive fire in capital Male' is being demolished.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed demolishing commenced on Monday morning, and said MNDF is assisting in tearing down the building.

Friday night's massive fire originated in a chemical warehouse in Abadhahfehi Magu, Henveiru and burnt down seven buildings in its wake. While one person died in the incident, over 400 people were affected by the fire. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated that the victims of the incident are receiving necessary support and assistance.

The residents of the buildings around the site of the fire have been evacuated, and both MNDF and the police are active at the area.
