Guest House Association of Maldives (GAME) for the first time, conferred awards to the islands that have developed Island Tourism to mark this year's World Tourism Day,
The award was only given to the islands that have developed Island Tourism in the Islands. The award ceremony was held in Hulhumale on Saturday evening. The awards were distributed by Hulhumale MP Hussain Niyaz, Island Aviation Deputy Managing Director Aishath Jennifer and MMPRC Director Fathimath Raahil.
GAME stated that the awards were given based on TripAdvisor rankings while next year, the public would be given a say to decide award recipients.

Leading Family Holiday Island : K. Thulusdhoo
Leading Echo Island : Baa. Maalhos
Leading Diving and Water Sports Adventure Island : A. A Rasdhoo
Leading Business Island : A. A. Ukulhas
Leading Fishing Island : V. Keyodhoo
Leading Connectivity Island : K. Maafushi
Leading Beach Island : Hulhumale
Leading Authentic Nature Island: B. Fehendhoo
Leading Food and Beverage Island : A. A. Thodoo
On Saturday, 18 events were held in Hulhumale Coconut Tree Field, organised by GAME and HDC. Events included watersports and diving activities as well as food tasting events.
Guest House Tourism plays are major role in the Tourism Industry of Maldives. The Tourism statistics report shows that 546 guest house are present in the Maldiveswith 8,989 beds. Guest Houses have contributed MVR 1.6 Million as green tax in July.
