Bahrain's national airline, Gulf Air has commenced operation to Maldives.
A ceremony was held Sunday at Velana International Airport Sunday to welcome the airline on Saturday, where CEO of Gulf Air Krešimir Kučko, senior officials of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldivian ticketing agent of the airline Villa Air, and state tourism promotion company MMPRC were in attendance.
Bahrain's Ambassador to Maldives Abdul Rahman Mohamed al Gawd announced the airlines' plans to begin operation to Maldives earlier this year at the Maldives Partnership Forum.
CEO of Gulf Air Krešimir Kučko said the airline aimed to begin operation to new destinations by adding more aircraft to their fleet. Commencing flights to a popular destinations such as Maldives is a great happiness, he said.
Gulf Air will operate four weekly flights to Maldives during the tourism peak season. They currently fly to over 50 destinations in 28 countries.
