Judge Rauf resigns from JSC

High Court Judge Abdul Rauf Ibrahim, who sits on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as a representative of the High Court has resigned from the commission.

Rauf resigned from the commission while President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated his name to JSC for Supreme Court Justiceship.

Rauf's name was nominated by the president for one of the three vacant seats available on the seven-judge Supreme Court bench. JSC will be interviewing the judge and other applicants for the post, and will forward their recommendations to the president.

Two Supreme Court justices were recently dismissed by the parliament over unconstitutional rulings passed by the top court. While Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi and Justice Adam Mohamed were dismissed, Justice Abdulla Areef retired on his own accord amid investigation over the same allegations. While JSC was investigating all three judges, Judge Rauf was involved in carrying out the investigations.
