Environment Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan on Sunday departed to Madrid, Spain to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25).
Environment Ministry said Minister Hussain will be seeking foreign assistance in tackling the effects of climate change during the conference.
The minister will speak on immediate action that must be taken to minimise the effects of climate change on the island nation, and will call on the international community to minimise the release of poisonous gases into the atmosphere, said the ministry.
Over 25,000 representatives from 200 countries are attending the ongoing climate change conference. The conference will conclude on December 13.
