The national airline Maldivian has received Leading Local Carrier award in the most prominent award given in the tourism industry of the Maldives.
Maldivian received this award in the awarding ceremony of Maldives Travel Awards Gala, 2019.
While Maldivian received this award competing Villa Air and Trans Maldives Air, the Sri Lankan Airline - the airline that Maldivians travel most, received Leading International Carrier Award.
Several awards have been given in 25 categories in this ceremony. Among this, AirAsia received Leading Low-Cost Carrier Award, and the Life Time Achievement Award in the Tourism Industry is awarded to Minister at the President’s Office Ahmed Naseem (Kerafee Naseem) who served in the tourism industry for a long duration.
In addition, Hulhule Island Hotel received Leading Airport/City Hotel Award, Leading Wellness and Spa Resort Award was awarded to The Sun Shiyma Irufushi for the 4th time consecutively. Irufushi competed with 12 resorts for this award. Other than Irufushi Kihaa Maldives has also received the Leading Wellness and Spa Resort Award.
