Former Minister of Home Affairs, Umar Naseer has stated that the most severe punishment must be given to those trafficking drugs into the Maldives.
After a video of a woman under the influence was shared on Facebook, Umar said that the issue of drugs is one that numerous families have had to grieve over. He revealed this to be the reason he calls for the severe punishment of drug traffickers, and further stated that he would hopefully generate a solution to this pressing issue.
While Umar made these remarks, cases of pedestrians under the influence have surfaced frequently recently. As such, Police have been conducting house raids, and arresting offenders.
