Former Home Minister Umar Naseer has expressed concern that senior officials of the current government are 'encouraging recreational use of drugs'.
Umar's comment comes while a video of a political appointee consuming alcohol was leaked on social media.
Umar took to Facebook to state that many Maldivian families have been destroyed due to different forms of drugs. In his post, Umar said the country has lost its creativity to foreigners taking over employment opportunities in Maldives. The peace and prosperity of the nation has been lost, he added.
The solution for such issues is to fully embrace the Islamic faith, said the former Home Minister.
