Sea ambulance involved in accident

A sea ambulance transporting a patient from N. Maalhendhoo was involved in an accident on Tuesday.

President of Maalhendhoo council Mohamed Shah Moosa told AVAS that the sea ambulance hit a stone wall of the jetty while attempting to depart from the island harbour with the patient. Although the patient, a nurse and attendants were aboard the vessel at the time, no one sustained any injuries in the accident, revealed Shah. The people on the vessel were rescued by onlookers, he said.

"No one was injured in the incident. The people who were at the jetty to see them off quickly got the patient off the vessel," said Shah.

The patient was transported to Male' shortly after the incident in a police vessel. The sea ambulance is currently submerged in Maalhendhoo lagoon.
