Completion of 30 powerhouses in 2020: FENAKA

FENAKA has said that 30 powerhouses will be established this year.

The company said on Thursday that in 2019 some projects were implemented to relocate powerhouses to remote areas.
In that regard, 27 islands powerhouse projects were implemented last year and by the end of the year, some powerhouses are almost complete.

Besides, work is ongoing to award contracts of relocating Ga. Villingili, R.Rasmaadho, and Ha.Utheem powerhouses to remote areas and establishing a central power plant Addu City.

As per FENAKA the new powerhouses will have state-of-the-art office buildings and an upgrade of the fuel storage network. There will also be a sound attenuator that will control sound to 70 decibels or less that are in line with the Maldives Energy Authority’s standards and regulations.

Moreover, powerhouses chimney’s will help reduce health risks caused to the public from the smoke of the powerhouses.
