The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised the Maldivians in Sri Lanka to check beforehand the expiry date of visa and passports.
As per a statement issued by the Ministry, to check the status of foreign citizens, the government of Sri Lanka has been inspecting their passports and visa status.
Hence, those who reside in Sri Lanka, and those who visit Sri Lanka for various purposes, to check beforehand the passport and visa expiration, be reminded to renew the visa in advance, and that it is a must to carry identification while residing in a foreign country.
The statement further stressed Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka to carry their passport or if the passport is with an authority of Sri Lanka, to carry a supporting document/receipt whenever going out.
