In the ceremony held on Wednesday night at Dharubaaruge, to celebrate the achievements of the last year, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment introduced “Youth Awards”, “Sports Awards” and “Civil Society Awards”.
The Youth Awards is to recognize, acknowledge and encourage the services provided by individuals and youth NGOs through their knowledge, skills, and workmanship at the national level, said Ministry of Youth. The Awards was introduced by Vise President Faisal Naseem.
The Sports Awards introduced on Wednesday night was to recognize, acknowledge and encourage those who work for the development of sports as well as, acknowledge and encourage sportspersons for their achievements and to recognize and encourage those who bring pride to the nation by winning in international tournaments and to encourage physical fitness. The Awards was introduced by Minister of Youth Ahmed Mahloof.
The other Awards that was introduced was the Civil Society Awards that was introduced by the Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail. The Awards is to recognize the voluntary work done to empower the community for the development of the Maldives by Civil Society Organizations.
The Ministry said the three awards will be given every year from this year onward.
