The contract is awarded to the construction of twelve classrooms in Irushaadhiyya School of Maradhoo island in southernmost Addu City to a company.
The project agreement was signed at a ceremony held Thursday at the Ministry of Education.
The project was handed over to Maris Construction Private Limited for MVR 8 million. State Minister Ahmed Riyaz signed the agreement on behalf of the government while the Managing Director of Maris Construction, Zubair Mohamed signed the contract on behalf of the company.
Funded under the Ministry of Education's PSIP fund, the work is to be completed within 300 days. Therefore, the classrooms are expected to be completed and handed over by November 2020, said the state minister.
Maris Construction Pvt Ltd is also in charge of constructing classrooms in Kolhufushi island.
