'Foreign Service National of the Year' awarded to a Maldivian

'Foreign Service National of the Year' has been awarded to a Maldivian.

The award was presented by the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA), an agency within the United States Department of State responsible for the U.S. government's relations with countries in the South and Central Asian region.

Shaufa Saeed, a Maldivian working at the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka was one of seven who received the title.

The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka is the one respective to both Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives.

According to a tweet posted by the SCA, Shaufa's "outstanding reporting and language skills strengthened the US-Maldives relationship". They further asserted their recognition of her efforts, and said they are lucky to have her on the team.
