I have certain differences with JP: Riyaz

Thimarafushi MP Abdulla Riyaz has stated that he has not been seen actively participating in the political activities of Jumhooree Party (JP) due to some differences he had with the party.

Speaking on a television program Wednesday night, Riyaz said that his first priority at the moment was working alongside President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to realize the administration's objectives. As such, he stated this to be the reason behind his lack of presence in JP activities.

He further revealed that he had some objections towards some of the party's decision and policies, thus giving him the right to refrain from their political activities.

While he made these remarks, he made no further comments on detailing the said 'objections'.

While JP leader Qasim Ibrahim was out of Male' during President Solih's campaign, Riyaz served as an interim leader. Moreover he had been active in political activities consistently since then as well, up until a number of PPM members recently defected to the party.
