Maldives is participating in the leading international tourism fair in Spain, FITUR 2020.
Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said they are representing Maldives together with industry partners at FITUR 2020 from January 22 to 26 in Madrid, Spain. Maldives is being showcased by 22 companies with 41 representatives from the destination.
The Maldives display consists of a 71.5 sqm stand space. While the stand showcases the natural beauty of the Maldives, several activities are being held throughout the fair. Additionally, meetings will be held with industry professionals in a bid to enhance the marketing efforts with the professionals of the industry.
The Maldives stall is located in stand 6D08. Quizzes on Maldives are being conducted at the stand, and visitors have the opportunity to win different prizes. Visitors can also dress up in traditional Maldivian attire and have their pictures taken, as well as have the opportunity to taste local food such as Theluli Banbukeyo (fried breadfruit), Addu bondi, a delicacy from southernmost Addu city, etc, said MMPRC.
FITUR is one of the biggest global platforms for leading travel trade professionals for inbound and outbound markets and this is the 40th year which FITUR is being held in a row.
According to MMPRC, arrivals to Maldives from the Spanish Market grew by 13.5% in 2019, with a total of 36,064 arrivals. Spanish market shares a large percentage of tourist arrivals, and has room for even more growth. Therefore, with the right marketing campaigns, the number of arrivals from Spain is expected to increase.
