41 complaints presented on Voters List

Elections Commission (EC) has revealed that there have been 41 complaints presented in relation to the list of people within the right to vote in the Women's Development Committee elections.

According to the voters list publicized by the commission, 269,562 people will be able to vote. However, based on the numerous complaints, this number is likely to change. EC has declared the deadline for submitting complaints as January 31. The commission revealed on Saturday, that they had received 41 complaints so far.

Accordingly, complaints may be presented from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM on working days, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM on holidays, and 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Fridays.

In the islands, these will be regarded by their respective councils whereas regional offices will regard complaints from Addu, and Fuvahmulah City. Moreover, Kulhudhuhfushi will be regarding them through the council as well, whereas complaints from Male' City will be regarded by the Elections Commission.

While a total of 983 councillors will be elected in the local council elections - as per recent amendments to the Decentralization Act - 33% of these seats will be reserved for women. As such, 370 female councillors will be elected. Further, 930 females will also be contending for membership on the Women's Development Committee.
