Thinadhoo continues to recede flood waters

As heavy rainfall caused massive flooding in GDh. Thinadhoo this Saturday, MNDF initiated their efforts to recede flood waters.

After establishing pumps, officers continue to recede the waters Sunday as well.

Vice President of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Ibrahim Assadh revealed that they experienced extremely heavy showers around midnight that went on a long while. As such, flood water gushed into homes. He also revealed that residents are facing negative effects due to toxic overflow into the sewerage system.

Thinadhoo is one of the islands that experience the most flooding in the monsoon season. The government previously made the announcement to establish seven pump stations around the island on several occasions. However, there are none in place as of yet.
