Coronavirus: Pres inquires about precautionary measures

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday met the relevant ministers to inquire about the preparations, protocols and precautionary measures taken to combat the novel-coronavirus pandemic.

According to the President's Office, the President and attendants discussed extensively on the latest updates concerning sustaining the safety and security of the Maldivian people in this time of global medical emergency during the meeting. The President also urged further precautionary measures and reminded all present authorities that the greatest priority is the protection of Maldives' citizens living in the homeland and abroad.

The Maldives has been taking stringent measures to prevent the virus from reaching Maldives. While stricter border control measures have been adopted where those travelling to Maldives from China will not be allowed to enter the country, the government has also suspended all inbound direct flights from China indefinitely.
