The cabinet ministers have discussed on the extra precautionary measures and the current situation of the Maldives due to COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion was carried on in a meeting held on Monday at the official residence of the president, Mulee’aage.
According to the President’s Office, during the meeting, the Cabinet discussed the impact of the global pandemic on the Maldivian economy and discussed immediate steps and future measures to be taken to minimise projected adverse effects and mitigate economic loss.
The President’s Office said Cabinet Members highlighted the coordinated multi-agency effort, under the guidance of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), to contain and limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Cabinet Ministers also expressed their continuing gratitude in the doctors, nurses and other health care professionals as well as volunteers and all brave workers at the front line of the effort for their diligence in protecting Maldivians from the disease, said the President's Office.
