A 21-month old has drowned in N. Manadhoo .
Speaking to AVAS, a Manadhoo resident said the child drowned in the island's lagoon. According to the resident, the child’s house is located near the beach, and the child left the house while the mother was in the bathroom for ablution.
The mother did not take a long time in the bathroom; however, once she came out and looked for the kid, she found the child on shore, but by then the child was dead, said the source.
The incident has been confirmed by police, who say they are investigating the matter.
According to the Gender Ministry, upon receiving a report of the child's death, social workers were mobilized to the island to liaise with the family.
