Japanese govt donates fire fighting equipment

Japanese government have donated fire extinguishing equipment to the Maldives.

The donation of fire vehicle, thermal cameras and oxygen sets worth US$ 88,000 was handed over to the Maldives government on Tuesday under The Grants Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project.

The donation was handed over at a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi and Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Ms Keiko Yanai and senior officials of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

According to a statement issued by Japanese Embassy in the Maldives, the thermal camera and oxygen sets will be used in Male’ Fire Station, as per the agreement signed between Japanese Embassy and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The Japanese government has been providing tremendous assistance for the MNDF. In that regard, in November last year, the Japanese government gifted a fire lorry to MNDF.
