A Bangladeshi national has been arrested over sexual assault to a girl in a central atoll of the Maldives.
The police said a Bangladeshi national is arrested in the early morning of Wednesday with a court warrant on a case of sexual assault to a 16-year-old girl from an atoll that is in the region of Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, and Vaavu. The police said the issue is under investigation.
There has been an escalation of the reporting of sexual assault cases recently.
