Two additional people suspected of having symptoms of COVID-19 are being placed in isolation from Sandies Bathala Island Resort.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed that efforts are underway to transfer both patients to an isolation facility.
HPA revealed that both individuals were in 'close contact' with the two people who had earlier tested positive for the virus from the island.
Maldives has recorded six confirmed cases of COVID-1 thus far; two employees at Kuredu Island Resort, two Italian tourists at the same resort, and two people at Bathala Resort. Both resorts have been placed on lockdown.
Authorities are also testing two suspected cases from One and Only Reethi Rah Island Resort, Kuramathi Island Resort and Vilimandoo Island Resort. Temporary entry and exit restrictions have been imposed on all three islands until the results done on the cases come back.
