Local football team to complete two-week quarantine in Sri Lanka

The government has announced that local football team, TC Sports Club will spend a quarantine period of two weeks in neighbouring Sri Lanka before arriving in the Maldives from Bangladesh.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in Bangladesh. The Maldives has restricted entry to all arriving at the archipelago from Bangladesh as a precautionary measure against the virus.

Government spokesperson on the coronavirus, Mabrook Azeez said TC Sports Club will spend two weeks in Sri Lanka before traveling back to Maldives. The team is currently in Dhaka.

Mabrook revealed that the same option is available for any Maldivians in Bangladesh who wish to return back to Maldives. The 14-day quarantine in Sri Lanka is compulsory for any Maldivians returning from Bangladesh, stressed Mabrook.

Maldives has recorded eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 thus far.
