Sri Lanka has issued an additional 30-days visa for the Maldivians residing in the country.
Due to the COVID-19 that is spreading across the globe, Sri Lanka has suspended issuing any type of visa.
Subsequently, the government of Sri Lanka has decided to extend the visa period to additional 30-days from 14 March to 14 April for all categories of visas. Thus, the country has requested to pay the visa fee of the 30-days on 8 or 9 April by visiting Sri Lanka’s Department of Immigration and get the passport stamped.
Under this arrangement, the Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka for a short visit as well as those on a residential visa can get additional 30-days visa without any issue. This will also solve the visa issues faced by the people when the state barred foreign arrivals to the country and suspended all international flights.
Furthermore, the government of Sri Lanka has urged to register with the nearest police station or call 119 and register, those who have travelled Iran, South Korea, and European countries between 1 to 15 March and residing in Sri Lanka at the moment.
