Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has stated that the ministry is working to arrange easy entry and visa arrangement to the Maldivians residing overseas as well as those who need to travel to the foreign countries.
The Foreign Ministry on Saturday said, owing to the escalation of COVID-19 across the globe, the Ministry is working to provide consular services jointly with the diplomatic missions of Maldives established at various countries, to help Maldivians who return to the country and those who live abroad.
The ministry said that they are working to ease some challenges faced by the Maldivians these days and requested to provide information about such difficulties faced by the citizens.
"However, we are sure everyone will understand that in a situation like this, there will be some challenges,” said the ministry.
The ministry has urged the Maldivians residing overseas and those who are travelling abroad to register with the ministry or with the nearest diplomatic mission of the Maldives.
All Maldivians and foreigners arriving in the Maldives on various visas with the exemption of tourists will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine. The ministry has requested inbound travelers to inform passport and flight numbers to the ministry or the nearest diplomatic mission prior to their arrival in the Maldives.
The Foreign Ministry has advised not to engage in unnecessary travelling these days and has urged those residing overseas to follow the instructions given by the respective countries’ governments.
