A cargo dhoani that was travelling from Gdh. Faresmaathoda to Ga. Nilandhoo has run aground.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the boat ran aground on a shallow reef near Gdh. Vaadhoo around dawn on Saturday. There were five people onboard when it ran aground. MNDF officials are performing a rescue operation.
Four expatriates and a local were aboard the vessel at the time of the incident. However, no person is injured.
