Quarantine facilities to be established in north and south of Maldives

Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has stated that the work is ongoing to establish quarantine facilities in the north and south of the Maldives.

In a tweet published on Wednesday night, Minister Ali Waheed said work is ongoing to establish quarantine facilities in the north and south of the Maldives and that the facilities will be activated on Wednesday night and Thursday.

A resort in each region will be used as a quarantine facility: Hideaway Island Resort in Haa Alif atoll in the north and Here’there’ Resort in southernmost Addu atoll.

The quarantine facilities in north and south are being established following the detection of people infected with COVID-19 pandemic in the atolls. The most number of people have tested positive in Sh. Narudhoo, while positive cases have also been identified in Milandhoo island of the same atoll, Ha. Uligam and K. Thulusdhoo.

The total number of people who have tested positive for the illness has now reached 280 in the Maldives, and one fatality has been confirmed.
