The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Tuesday revealed two COVID-19 patients hospitalised at Dharumavantha Hospital are on ventilator support.
Speaking at NEOC's daily press conference on Tuesday evening, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) said six people are currently receiving treatment at the DH11 facility established at Dharumavantha Hospital. A 70 year old and an 80 year old have been put on ventilators, said Dr. Afzal. An additional 80 year old is receiving oxygen treatment, and the remaining patients are in stable condition, said the doctor.
574 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives thus far. The first case of local transmission was identified in capital Male' on April 15, and the number of positive cases have been increasing rapidly since then. 759 people are currently housed at quarantine facilities, and 58 people are in isolation. Two deaths linked to COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Maldives.
