COVID-19: 145 patients hospitalised, 8 in critical care

The Health Emergency Operations Centre, HEOC on Tuesday said 145 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised.

Speaking at the centre’s press conference, epidemiologist, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said 145 people are currently receiving treatment at medical facilities, out of which 8 are in intensive care units.

129 patients are admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility while 6 are in treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital in capital Male’. Two patients are hospitalised at Sh. Funadhoo COVID Centre and B. Eydhafushi COVID Centre, said Dr. Afzal.

HEOC said 6 out of the 8 patients in critical care are admitted at the ICU established at the Hulhumale’ Medical Centre, and one is on ventilator support. Two are admitted at the ICU facility in Dharumavantha Hospital.

The Maldives has registered over 5,157 positive cases of COVID-19, out of which 2,835 cases are currently active. 19 people have succumbed to the illness thus far.
