Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that they have commenced the harbour expansion project of the island, Hdh. Hanimaadhoo.
According to the company, it has been facing some challenges in transporting the required materials to the site since last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The capital Male' region has been on lockdown since April 15.
Under the project, 53,523 cubic meters of the area will be reclaimed, and a breakwater will be built 270 meters away from the harbour. A revetment of 50 meters will be built for a 90-meter seawall. Additionally, a land area of 1000 meters will be paved with tar and street lights will be installed. The MVR 57.1 million project is expected to reach completion in 10 months.
