MTCC commences Rakeedhoo, Vandhoo harbour projects

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced V. Rakeedhoo and R. Vandhoo Harbour Projects.

MTCC on Sunday said the necessary machinery and vehicles have been transported to Rakeedhoo and the site has been mobilized. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was completed last December and the practical work has commenced, said MTCC.

A 156-meter breakwater, a 74-meter revetment and a seawall of 164 meters are to be built under the project. Furthermore, the harbour area will be paved and street lights will be installed. The project is expected to reach completion by October. The value of the project is MVR 18.5 million.

Additionally, the dredging of the harbour area and harbour renovation work of R. Vandhoo has commenced on Sunday, said MTCC. According to MTCC, the projec includes renovating the damaged parts of harbour and dredging 1870 meters from the island lagoon. The project was awarded in August last year for a contract value of MVR 5.99 million.
