Police have arrested six people who were attempting to smuggle 5.5kg of drugs to southernmost Addu City.
The police said the drugs were seized in an operation conducted by the police following a report received by the police intelligence. The offenders were arrested near the outer lagoon of an uninhabited island named Kan’dihera in Addu after the speedboat they were travelling in was stopped and searched. 5.5 kg of heroine in five packets were discovered on the boat.
The police said an 18-year-old woman is among those arrested.
