Addu drug bust: Three additional suspects remanded into custody

Three additional people linked to the counter-narcotics drug operation carried out in Addu City have been remanded into custody pending outcome of their trial.

According to Maldives Police Service, those remanded into custody are Hassan Amir, 25 , Hoodh Latheef, 24 and Hussain Simaah, 27. Hoodh Latheef was arrested on October 7th and was remanded pending the outcome of his trial when presented at the court. The remaining two were remanded on Friday.

Five people in total have been remanded in connection to the case. Abdulla Ibrahim, 33, Mohamed Yameen Naseer, 23 were previously remanded for the remainder of their trials by Hithadhoo Magistrate Court.

Over 80kg of drugs were seized in the drug operation carried out in Addu city earlier this week. A total of 16 people linked to the case were arrested, out of which some have now been released.
