National carrier introduces online check-in service

National carrier Maldivian has announced that effective from July 2, online check-in services will be available to passengers as a measure to maintain social distancing in response to COVID-19.

Passengers travelling through the airline’s domestic and international flights can check-in online and a boarding pass will be issued via email. Customers who are travelling on domestic flights can check-in 12 hours ahead of departure, while those who are travelling on international flights can check-in 48 hours ahead. The checking service will close in 4 hours before departure. The travellers must be present at the airport at least 1 hour before the departure and boarding passes that state “a seat will be available from the flight” will be provided with any seat from the flight. However, such seats can be exchanged maintaining safety protocols of COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline has launched a special app to provide the services, has arranged ticket bookings and purchase via the Viber.
