Three people adrift in the sea after the doani they were travelling capsized has been rescued. The three crew members were travelling to the industrial island, Thilafushi in Kaafu Atoll.
According to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the vessel capsised after it toppled with a massive tidal wave on Sunday evening.
The capsized cargo vessel's crew members who were adrift in the water were rescued by another boat that passed by.
MNDF said Coast Guard divers were active on the site after the incident.
Since last week, sea accidents have been surging due to adverse weather condition.
Maldives Meteorological Service has forecasted that in the upcoming 24 hours, the country will experience rough seas, rain showers, and sea swells.
