Three mosques in capital closed for disinfection

Three mosques have been closed to carry out disinfection procedures.

The Islamic ministry said three mosques in capital Male’ are being disinfected as the mosques were recently visited by individuals who tested positive for COVID-19. The mosques are Masjidul Sultan Hassan Izzuddin, Masjidul Sultan Muhammad Imaduddin and Masjidul Afeefuddin.

The ministry did not reveal when the mosques will be reopened after disinfection. It is understood that the congregational prayers will be resumed sometime on Tuesday.

All mosques in Maldives were temporarily closed, with mosques in the capital being closed for almost three months as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. The congregational prayers were resumed in Male’ two week back.
