MP Jabir submits motion proposing to dissolve decentralisation chapter

MP Abdulla Jabir son Tuesday submitted a motion proposing to dissolve the decentralisation chapter of the constitution.

As per the bill proposed by Jabir, the purpose of the bill is to amend the constitution to economise government spending in response to COVID-19 by reducing the spending under the decentralisation chapter.

Prior to submitting the bill, Jabir had submitted a proposal to dissolve Local Government Authority (LGA) and local councils. However, the proposition was rejected during Tuesday's parliamentary sitting.

Jabir has expressed his anguish towards MDP members over not debating his proposal on dissolving LGA and local councils. He challenged MDP members that he will contest in the next presidential election and will defeat MDP.
