COVID-19: 150 hospitalised, 10 in ICU

The Health Protection Agency, HPA has revealed that 150 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised.

Speaking at the Health Emergency Operation Centre, HEOC’s press conference on Wednesday night, the centre’s Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said 150 patients are currently admitted, out of which 139 are at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility, HMF. While 10 patients are hospitalised at Dharumavantha Hospital, an additional patient is at B. Eydhafushi COVID centre, said HPA.

Dr. Nazla said 10 patients are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit; five of whom are at HMF. Two are on ventilator support. Additionally, five patients in Dharumavantha Hospital are also in the ICU.

Five pregnant women with COVID-19 are hospitalised at a special wing in Dharumavantha Hospital.

Dr. Nazla announced that a patient receiving treatment from a COVID-19 centre established in the atolls recovered from the illness on Wednesday. This is the first time a positive case that was hospitalised in the atolls made a full recovery.
