Seven people have been arrested with a large amount of drugs.
Maldives Police Service said the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) carried out an operation on September 14 in which a home in capital Male’ was searched by the police. The police executed the operation under a court order after police intelligence were tipped off regarding the case. A large number of drugs and cash were discovered on the premise in Henveiru ward, and seven people were arrested during the raid, said the police. The seven arrested men are of ages between 19 and 28.
The police revealed that 42 film canisters, 28 rubber packets, 216 cellophane covers and small plastic bags, substances assumed to be drugs as well as 255 pills of prohibited medicines and substances and a bottle of alcohol were discovered during the raid. MVR 17,150 were also found in the home.
