Naifaru MP and Deputy President of opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), was taken to ADK Hospital on Tuesday morning after suffering a high fever. The MP was at a Parliament sitting at the time of the incident.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, Shiyam was escorted out of the Parliament building by fellow parliamentarians. It has been reported that he later suffered a stroke. However, President of Peoples’ National Congress and opposition coalition member, Abdul Raheem Abdulla denied the reports, and said Shiyam was being treated in the emergency room for high fever.
