The Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s monitoring status has been removed from Kulhuduffushi City after 11 days.
The first positive case of COVID-19 was identified in Kulhuduffushi on October 6th. 18 police officers had traveled to the city and some other northern islands from the capital earlier on September 24. The positive cases started emerging in Kulhudhuffushi from then on. The first police officer with COVID-19 was identified on October 6, and a second case was identified the next day. Two additional officers tested positive on the third day.
However, the island was put under HPA monitoring on October 17. While random sampling was taken during the period, all 380 samples came back negative. HPA has now deemed that it has found no reason to continue to keep Kulhuduffushi under monitoring, and that the status has now been lifted from the city.
