Sidhrathullah's body to be sent abroad this week

The body of the man discovered dead at sea on October 23 will be transported to India for the post mortem process, Maldives Police Services have revealed.

Mohamed Sidhratullah, 31, was found dead with several injuries in the sea area near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in the morning hours of October 23. Since the cause of his death remains unclear, the police have decided to send the body of the deceased abroad for further investigation. In this regard, the body will be transported to India within this week, said the police. There have been delays in transporting the body due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, said the police.

The police further said while it is concerning that Sidhrathulla’s body still remains in the mortuary and that his burial is being put off, a post mortem is essential to determine the cause of death for investigation purposes.

The police released a video of Sidhathullah walking towards the Rasfannu Beach prior to his death earlier this week. The police have urged any person with information regarding Sidharthullah’s death to come forward. While it is unlikely that he died of natural causes, many assume the man was murdered.
