COVID-19: Maldives' recoveries tally cross 13,000

Over 13,000 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.

While the Indian ocean archipelago has been battling the pandemic for 292 days, the Maldives has recorded 13,558 positive cases to date. Out of these, 13,011 people have fully recovered from the disease. This figure is equivalent to 96 percent of the positive cases.

Currently, 492 COVID-19 cases are active. Out of these, 37 people are receiving treatment at the hospital. 48 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded to date.

The Maldives experienced an extremely difficult situation due to COVID-19 earlier in August. Over 3,900 positive cases and 12 deaths were recorded in August alone. However, the numbers started to fall from September onwards, and the number of daily cases being registered now is very low. A daily figure of over a 100 cases have been reported only once over the past two months. Authorities have relaxed several precautionary measures due to this.
