A young boy aged 17 has passed away in Fuvahmulah City after he was rescued from drowning. The boy passed away after he was taken to the hospital.
The police said it received reports of a boy who went missing while swimming in the Maanere beach area of Gn. Fuvahmulah on Saturday evening at 4.45 pm, following which they commenced search operations. The boy was found submerged underwater around 5.50 pm by search and rescue teams.
According to reports, the 17 year old boy had attempted to rescue two children who were drowning. Both children are alive and well, although one child is still receiving treatment in the hospital.
