Maldives Media Council (MMC) has called on local agencies not to spread incorrect information regarding the COVID-19 vaccines.
A statement issued by the council on Monday said some local media are presenting news in such a way that it sows doubt regarding the safety of vaccines in the hearts of the people. The council strictly condemned such actions.
The council reminded news agencies to ensure that information being shared by the platforms are validated by relevant authorities, and to ensure that the information comes from credible international sources.
The council acknowledged that some news agencies are working to create awareness among the public regarding the vaccine. The council encourages to increase such content at this time, the statement said.
