Several of COVID-19 have been identified in industrial island, Thilafushi.
The Maldives recorded 209 positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, out of which 73 cases were identified in Thilafushi. A large number of foreigners work at Thilafushi, and is a short ferry-ride away from Male’. 101 cases were identified in capital Male’.
While 2,360 cases of COVID-19 are active in the Maldives, the number hospitalisations are extremely high, and on the brink of overwhelming the healthcare system. 190 people are currently hospitalised, and the Health Protection Agency has warned that hospitals are running out of beds.
