United Arab Emirates is preparing to begin flights to Gan International Airport.
Speaking at a ceremony held to handover land from Addu City for tourism development, Sri Lankan Airline's ticketing agent for the Maldives, Inner Maldives’ Managing Director, Mohamed Firaq said UAE will commence flights to Addu City very soon. However, he did not specify the date on which the flights would begin operation.
Firaq further said the company plans to resume Sri Lankan Airline's flights to Addu City.
Although it has been announced that international flights will operate to Addu city in the near future, all tourism facilities in the southernmost atoll are currently remain closed.
