The number of tourists who visited the Maldives over the past three months has surpassed 300,000.
Statistics issued by the Tourism Ministry show that 307,543 tourists visited the Maldives from the beginning of the year until April 3. While 8,973 tourists visited during the first three days of January, this is 1.6 percent decline compared to the previous year. 9,121 tourists visited the Maldives during the first three days of 2020.
The most number of tourists visiting Maldives are from India, with Russia following close behind. The third on the list is Ukraine. Tourists that visit the Maldives spend an average of 8.9 days in the Maldives.
The Maldives hosted 555,494 tourists in 2020, and 1.7 million tourists in 2019. The government hopes to host 1.5 million tourists this year.
